This move not only enhanced efficiency but also significantly improved the quality of health and safety reporting across the company’s operations.
Since 1833, Menzies Aviation has been a vital player in the global aviation industry, providing critical logistics, cargo handling, and passenger services in over 250 locations across 58 countries. With a workforce of 40,000, Menzies operates 24/7 to keep people and goods moving efficiently around the world. As health and safety are crucial in aviation, Menzies sought to modernise its processes to better protect its staff and passengers.

Menzies Aviation approached CreateFuture with the challenge of revolutionising its health and safety processes. The company’s existing paper-based system was time-consuming and prone to errors, necessitating a digital solution that could streamline data reporting, enhance inspection accuracy, and reduce high-priority safety issues.
In an industry where precision and reliability are critical, Menzies Aviation needed a solution that could not only digitise their health and safety inspections but also integrate seamlessly with their existing systems. The challenge was to create an app that was user-friendly for a largely mobile workforce, while also providing robust data insights to drive operational improvements and ensure the highest standards of safety.
CreateFuture led Menzies through comprehensive Design and Discovery workshops, engaging with teams from health and safety, IT, and operations to ensure alignment and understanding. By spending time at Heathrow and Edinburgh airports, our team gained first-hand insight into Menzies’ operational needs. This groundwork allowed us to identify key areas where a digital solution could provide the most impact.
Leveraging the insights from our discovery phase, CreateFuture quickly designed and tested a new digital inspection solution. The app was designed to generate inspections on-demand, reducing unnecessary routine questions and improving the quality of data collected. By enabling photo uploads and GPS recordings, the app provided more detailed and real-time inspection reports, enhancing the overall safety oversight across the company.
To further streamline Menzies’ operations, CreateFuture integrated the app with the company’s existing API, enriching the system’s data and enabling easy exports to custom dashboards. We also incorporated corporate services like Single Sign-On via Azure ADFS for efficient user management. This integration reduced administrative tasks, allowing employees to focus more on their core responsibilities and less on paperwork.
Within just 12 months of implementing the app, Menzies Aviation performed over 500,000 inspections, achieving the lowest-ever number of high-priority safety issues reported. The app proved to be a game-changer, revolutionising how Menzies manages health and safety across its global operations and setting a new standard for safety in the aviation industry.
