Overview

BR-DGE supports clients across various industries and has established a powerful reputation in iGaming, partnering with leading brands such as Flutter UK&I, William Hill, and Sportsbook Australia. Their technology empowers merchants to connect with multiple payment providers, intelligently route payments, and analyse clear reports, which helps them select the most suitable providers to increase transaction success rates and reduce costs.

Building on this foundation, BR-DGE introduced Cashier, an embedded payment interface that provides multiple APM (Alternative Payment Methods) integrations, enabling players to manage their deposits and withdrawals. Through a deeply embedded partnership, our engineers and delivery leads worked as a single, unified team with BR-DGE, sharing best practices, fusing our expertise and establishing effective collaboration from the outset.

Opportunity

An opportunity arose for us to collaborate with BR-DGE and Flutter on a new, user-facing payment solution. Cashier takes the form of a front-end UI on a hosted page that integrates into merchants’ sites or apps, providing players with a seamless way to deposit and withdraw funds. It offers support for a range of APMs and includes regulatory compliance.

Cashier complements BR-DGE’s powerful orchestration engine. While operators can build their own embedded payment gateway UIs on top of BR-DGE's API, Cashier offers a ready-made, compliant and configurable experience that streamlines integration with BR-DGE’s platform.

The roadmap is shaped by two sets of stakeholders: Flutter’s immediate operational requirements and BR-DGE’s longer-term ambition to create a product that can be white-labelled. Balancing these perspectives is both a technical undertaking and an organisational consideration, with two different stakeholder groups shaping priorities. The immediate goal was to establish effective working methods and deliver a proof of concept to demonstrate value and alignment with Flutter’s priorities.

Solution

To deliver Cashier, we formed a new hybrid squad of eight engineers – five from our team and three from BR-DGE – led by our engineering manager and a BR-DGE product owner. The newly assembled squad quickly established effective working methods, enabling rapid delivery from the outset. Today, its composition evolves over time in response to changing requirements.

Cashier was built as a layer on top of BR-DGE’s orchestration API, integrating a wide variety of APMs. Each APM has its own characteristics and constraints, so the working group harmonised these into a consistent experience for both merchants using the raw API and those adopting the Cashier interface.

Our strategy was to build core functionality first, then add APMs as they become available. In addition to support for multiple APMs, features will include fraud and risk checks, configurable payout delays, timeouts, and handling of abandoned transactions, as well as merchant-level configuration of payment instruments.

Outcome

In the first two months, the engineering unit delivered a proof of concept with Paysafecard as the sole payment option. This early release validated the team’s ability to move quickly and deliver to a high standard under time pressures. We integrated seamlessly into BR-DGE's well-defined engineering process, creating a unified framework where our combined expertise could thrive.

That first milestone paved the way for the next major target: a live launch with Sky Betting & Gaming, powered by Revolut Pay. The roadmap is now expanding to include further integrations – such as Google Pay, PayPal, and Neteller – positioning BR-DGE to scale Cashier across Flutter’s brands and, eventually, as a white-label solution that opens opportunities across multiple sectors.
